Tree Pest Control Service: Do you have sticky or sappy leaves, small bore holes in the bark or leaves, discoloration or deformities in any of the tree parts? Pest such as Aphids, Adelgid, Borers, Beetles, Caterpillars, Galls, Leafminers, Spider-Mites, Weevils, etc,. can be prevented and/or controlled by systemic injections of a chemical called "Merit." The Systemic Injection is so effective because the chemical is picked up from the roots of the tree and distributed throughout the entire structure of the tree. Many species of trees are susceptible to pest that be eradicated and prevented using this method. Samples can be taken from the leaves, twigs, branches, roots, stems, needles, cones, wood, bark, soil around the trunk of the tree, etc, to obtain an exact causal agent. Our tree service is equipped with the tools and knowledge to successfully achieve this.

Signs of a tree pest infestation

  • Mushroom-type fungi growing at the base of the tree trunk.
  • Although difficult to see, the adult beetles leave a "D"-shaped exit hole in the bark, roughly 1/8 inch in diameter, when they emerge in June.
  • The canopy of the infested trees begins to thin above the infested portions of the trunk and major branches
  • Heavily infested trees exhibit canopy die-back, usually starting at the top of the tree, working it's way back down to the bottom of the tree.
  • Leaking sap down the bark of the tree
  • Popcorn-like sappy pitch tubes stuck to the bark of the tree.
  • Legions and/or holes develop on the leaves outside the stem and veins.
  • A Sappy / Sticky drip may be created, possibly on the leaves, needles, bark, stems, or branches of the tree.
  • Shoots appear at base oftree.
  • Numerous holes in the bark, indicate a infestation of the tree.
  • Boring Dust (Similiar to Sawdust) is present near the tree.
  • Bugs around swarm the tree. (For example: Beetles)May actually be the tree pest or predators of the tree bugs feeding on them. Ladybugs feed heavily on aphid in maple trees.

There are many signs and symptoms of an infestation to your trees, to properly Identify if you have an infested tree; An Arborist should closely examine the specimen. Time is very important, even if it is too late to save the infected tree, you may be able to remove it and systemically inject the surrounding trees to prevent further breakout! Soil, leaf, twig, bud, flower, needle, stem, or bark samples can be taken to a lab to further diagnose the problem. A lot of the time, the problem may mimic a pest infestation of some sort, but end up being something completely different when the tree investigation is concluded.

Biotic plant problems are caused by living organisms, such as bacteria, nematodes, viruses, fungi, insects, mites, and animals. Abiotic disorders are caused by non-living factors, such as freeze injury, chemical drift, drought stress, wind injury, sunscald, nutrient deficiency, or improper cultural practices, such as overwatering or planting too deep. Unfortunately, the damage caused by these various living and non-living agents can appear very similar. Let our Arborists put their knowledge and experience to the job of identifying your tree's needs.
