Tree Cutting Procedures
March 22, 2012 Spokane,WA
Initially, we must complete a thorough inspection of the area and establish a drop area for the tree debris to fall. The limbs are to be cut to small enough sizes that are easily handled by our experienced personnel. Proper safety equipment is and must be worn when operating a chainsaw, the operator should has proper knowledge of running the chainsaw, chainsaw chaps must be worn while operating a chainsaw, reflective vest while working on the street, all persons under the tree must wear OSHA approved hardhats, safety eye protection must be worn, and hearing protection.
Tree Falling- Ropes are utilized to help pull the trees down into a safe area. Yards with small clearances will require the use of a rope and some help to guide the tree down to the open space. Our professional crew is always aware of the surroundings and any overhead wires, structures, other trees, etc,. If the trees to be removed have nearby powerlines, A1 Tree Service can coordinate with the power company to arrange a temporary "powerdrop." Plastic wedges and a sledgehammer are always on hand when falling a tree, this is to prevent the tree from settling back onto the chainsaw blade.
Hazardous Tree Removal- When the tree is too close to structures, wires, swimming pools, etc,. The tree is climbed using a saddle with a steel-core safety lanyard, lifeline safety rope, catch(pulley rope), and steel tree gaffs(spikes). Each limb is removed all the way up, one by one. If the limbs are too large to handle or throw into the safe drop zone, the climber utilizes his catch rope, he will rig it up above the limb to be removed, creating a pulley system to the safe drop zone, the ground crew will manage the end of the rope from the ground as the climber cuts it free from the trunk. Eventually, the climber will reach a point where the trunk is too slender to climb any farther.
Tree Topping- If the top of the tree can fit in the safe drop zone, it will come down in the same manner as falling a small tree, if it will not fit, it will be "caught," as it were a large branch. This is a technique that takes experience both for the climber and the ground-man to safely perform to prevent damage. A1 Stump Removal and Tree Service specializes in just this, put your tree removal needs in the hands of true professionals.
